New Jersey: PATH train services were suspended on multiple lines on Monday morning (4 August) following a fire incident reported beneath a train at Newport Station, in Jersey City, New Jersey, according to CBS News.
A video of the fire has surfaced on social media. The footage shows the train engulfed in smoke, with panicked passengers urging staff to open the doors before rushing to escape. Voices can be heard shouting, “Move, move, move!” as chaos unfolds on the platform. Fire can be seen inside the train in the later part of the video.
Several Passengers Receive Treatment
The incident occurred at around 6:15 am on an eastbound train at Newport Station. According to authorities, around 13 passengers received medical treatment for inhaling smoke after they were evacuated from the burning train to the platform. A probe to understand the cause of the fire is underway.
