Ghaziabad: Businessman Sends Legal Notice After Mercedes Damaged In Waterlogging, Demands ₹5 Lakh Compensation

Ghaziabad, July 29: In a shocking incident, a businessman and social worker identified as Amit Kishore has sent a legal notice to the Municipal Commissioner in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. There are reports that the legal notice was sent by the individual after his high-end Mercedes car was damaged due to waterlogging which was reportedly caused due to heavy rain. He has demanded a compensation of Rs 5,00,000 and complete repair cost of the vehicle.
Details About The Incident
There are reports that the incident occurred on July 23, when Amit Kishore was driving his Mercedes from Lajpat Nagar Sahibabad to Vasundhara and the roads were severely waterlogged.
His red-coloured Mercedes car got stuck in the water and was badly damaged. The car had to be towed using a crane to a service center in Noida, where the repair cost was estimated at Rs 5 lakh.
Legal Action
Amit Kishore sent a legal notice to the Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner through his lawyer. He has alleged that his car was damaged due to the negligence in cleaning the city drains. He also alleged corruption in drain maintenance and failure to act on citizens' complaints.
He has also blamed allowing illegal encroachments and lack of preparation for the monsoon for water-logging in the city.
He has demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation and full repair cost of the vehicle and also warned of further action.
Legal Notice Details
The notice also states that if the corporation does not provide a satisfactory reply within 15 days, Amit Kishore will file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court and approach the Lokayukta for a corruption probe. He will also file a civil claim for damages.
According to Amit Kishore, this is not just about his car but about holding the municipal body accountable for the safety and well-being of citizens who pay taxes but face repeated negligence.
