ISPL Season 2 wrapped up yesterday, with Majhi Mumbai winning the title after defeating Srinagar Ke Veer in the final at Dadoji Konddev Stadium, Thane.

Bollywood stars were part of the action, with Amitabh Bachchan who owns the team, Majhi Mumbai, while Akshay Kumar’s team, Srinagar Ke Veer, finished as runners-up.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, a key member of the ISPL core committee, shared his thoughts on social media after an exciting final, by posting pictures after the match, he wrote,

“What a fantastic ISPL T10 final! Srinagar led the way for most of the match, but Mumbai's ability to finish strong in both innings proved decisive. It was one of those days when one side plays well, but their opponents play slightly better.

There was a winner and a runner-up last night, but both teams shared a common trait: their passion and love for the game. Congratulations to @Majhimumbaiispl and well played, @srinagarkeveer!"

Vijay Pawale’s heroics made Majhi Mumbai Champions

Batting first, Srinagar got off to a flying start thanks to their openers, Sagar Ali and Akash Tarekar, who built the highest first-wicket partnership of 108 runs in an ISPL final. However, they lost five wickets for just 12 runs, finishing at 120/5 the highest total in the tournament’s final.

Akash, who had been inconsistent throughout the event, saved his best performance for the big stage. He remained unbeaten on 59 off 32 balls, smashing three fours and five huge sixes.

Sagar also contributed with a quick 40 off 23 balls, including four sixes, before getting out in the penultimate over. Mumbai’s Abhishek Kumar Dalhor, the leading wicket-taker of the season, added two more scalps to take his tally to 24.

In reply, Majhi Mumbai struggled early but skipper Vijay Pawle led the recovery, supported by Birendra. The duo dominated Dilip Binjwa, scoring 39 runs in the 50-50 Challenge Over to shift momentum.
