Alandi: Alandi's Shree Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Mandir has joined a rare list of temples in India that have a full-gold kalash (spire) on top of the temple. The kalash was installed on Friday afternoon by the trustees of the Shree Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Sansthan.
The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Rural Development Minister Jay Kumar Gore, Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gore, local MPs and MLAs, trustees, and donors.
The kalash was installed on the occasion of the 750th birth anniversary of Sant Shreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. The kalash is made entirely of gold, weighing 22 kgs. Dnyaneshwari's audiobook was also released on this occasion, something every Indian can hear.
CM Devendra Fadnavis, speaking after the installation, said, "Not many temples in India have a full-gold kalash on top. Alandi has joined the rare cultural heritage list of the country today. My family and ancestors must have done something good; that’s why it is a privilege for me to come as chief guest at this event."
Eknath Shinde echoed similar emotions, congratulating everyone for being there and thanking them for the opportunity. "I’m here as a Warkari, not as a politician," he said.
