Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has taken strict action against vehicles fitted with tinted glass. Over the past three years, a total of 3,758 vehicles were inspected, out of which 1,194 were found violating the rules.
The data shared by the RTO reveals that in 2023, a total of 1,839 vehicles were checked, 618 confirmed violations and fines amounting to ₹3.09 lakh were collected. In 2024, a total of 1,472 inspections were carried out, with 487 confirmed violations, leading to ₹2.43 lakh in fines.

Similarly, in 2025 till August, a total of 447 vehicles were checked and 89 were found non-compliant, resulting in ₹89,000 collected in fines.
The total revenue collected through fines from 2023 to 2025 stands at ₹6.41 lakh, showing the seriousness of the RTO in enforcing traffic rules related to vehicle modifications.

Swapnil Bhosale, Deputy RTO, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "The use of tinted glass not only violates the Motor Vehicles Act but also poses a threat to public safety, particularly by reducing driver visibility and hindering law enforcement. The violation of RTO norms is punishable, and strict action will be taken."
