During the 701st birth anniversary celebration of Sant Dnyaneshwar in Pune's Alandi on Saturday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that a grand "Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Gyanpeeth" will be established across 450 acres in the temple town of Alandi to spread the principles of ancient Bhagwat Dharma across the world.
While addressing the media, CM Fadnavis revealed that a fund of ₹701 crore will be allocated for the Gyanpeeth. He highlighted that the institution will play an important role in sharing India’s rich spiritual power.
Additionally, Fadnavis informed that a development plan for the Indrayani River has been submitted to the central government.
Furthermore, he added that the moral and spiritual foundation laid by the Warkari tradition is playing a crucial role in the development of Maharashtra. "Spiritual activity is important for inner peace. We appeal to each and every one to attend spiritual events and activities," he said.
When asked about the heightened security measures in Maharashtra, Fadnavis said a review meeting was held in Mumbai on Friday. "All security precautions have been taken in the state in the wake of the current situation. Security information is provided to the district units, and resources are being made available," he said.
The senior BJP leader, meanwhile, brushed aside queries on the possibility of the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) coming together. "You ask this either to Supriya Sule (working president of NCP-SP) or Ajit Pawar (who heads NCP). Why are you making me 'Begani Shaadi Mein Abdullah Deewana?'" he quipped.
