Palghar Crime: Man Booked For Repeatedly Raping Teen Under Marriage Pretext; Case Moved To Mumbai

Palghar, Maharashtra: A case has been registered against a man accused of repeatedly raping a teenage girl under the pretext of marriage. The incident, which allegedly began in December 2022, came to light when the now 18-year-old woman filed a complaint at Bolinj Police Station on May 9, 2025.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused, a resident of Jogeshwari, Mumbai, allegedly took advantage of the girl's naivety and promised to marry her. Over time, he allegedly coerced her into a sexual relationship against her will, taking her to various locations including his residence and nearby lodges.

The complainant, who is currently pursuing her education and resides in Virar, claimed that she was just 16 years old when the alleged abuse began. She said she trusted the accused's repeated assurances of marriage, only to later realize he had no intention of following through.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, acknowledging the survivor's age when the alleged abuse began.

The investigation, initially handled by Bolinj Police Station, has been transferred to Amboli Police Station in Mumbai, where the alleged crimes occurred. No arrest has been made so far.
