Mumbai: Heavy traffic was reported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Thursday morning due to rains and diversions, causing all lanes to be temporarily blocked. A user on X, @rushikesh_agre_, shared a video showing long queues of vehicles stuck on the highway.

In his post, he mentioned, "All lanes are blocked at the moment due to diversions," and advised people to avoid any unnecessary travel. The video clearly shows vehicles at a complete stop, with traffic stretching far down the expressway as per the video shared by the user. The user urged citizens to delay their plans if possible.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert For City

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Mumbai, indicating the possibility of weather-related disruptions. The forecast suggests a generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations throughout the day. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions, as there may be chances of localised flooding and traffic delays in certain areas.

In another video from Igatpuri, heavy rainfall has added to the chaos. The video shows severe waterlogging on the roads, making it difficult for drivers to move, further slowing down traffic on nearby highways. The video shows the traffic and the truck stuck in the middle of the road. The waterlogging is also witnessed in Igatpuri, Maharashtra.

Traffic Congestion at Milind Nagar JVLR (MIDC) in Mumbai

On the traffic front, an accident involving a truck and a tempo has caused congestion at Milind Nagar on JVLR Road (MIDC), heading southbound. The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a warning for delays in the area and has urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly. So far, no major traffic snarls have been reported due to waterlogging or continuous rainfall elsewhere in the city.
