A grand wrestling event, ‘Shri Paresh Sheth Thakur Kesari’, was held on Sunday at the Loknete Ramsheth Thakur School Ground in Kamothe, Sector 6. The event was organized to celebrate the birthday of former Panvel House Leader Paresh Thakur and was hosted by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Kamothe and Raigad District Wrestling Association.
Thousands of spectators gathered to watch powerful bouts, as renowned wrestlers displayed their strength and mastery in the traditional red-clay arena. The excitement was heightened by vibrant lighting, the beat of traditional drums, and energetic commentary, creating a festive and competitive atmosphere. Wrestlers who have earned titles like Rustam-e-Hind, Hind Kesari, and Maharashtra Kesari delivered high-energy performances, drawing cheers from the crowd. The headline matches included Sikandar Shaikh against Sukhwinder Singh, Vijay Chaudhary against American wrestler Ricardo, Shivraj Rakshe versus Vikrant Kumar, and Kiran Bhagat facing Hitendra Kumar. Alongside these marquee matches, several local and district-level wrestlers also took part in age-wise competitions.
Young and local wrestlers also took part in matches held in different age groups. Winners were awarded cash prizes worth more than Rs. 11 lakh.
The event saw the presence of political personalities like the Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, MP Shrirang Barne, former MP Ramsheth Thakur, MLA Prashant Thakur.
