Koparkhairane Police, with assistance from the Government Railway Police (GRP), rescued an 11-year-old girl and apprehended her alleged abductor from a train in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur within 2 hours of lodging a FIR at Koparkhairane police station.

Waiter from Dhaba Suspected of Kidnapping

Police said the girl, who was an orphan, was living with her aunt in Koparkhairane, went missing on the morning of August 11 after leaving home without informing anyone. Her aunt, who works at Shivraj Dhaba in Ghansoli, lodged a missing complaint when the child did not return home by night. Investigation revealed that a waiter from the dhaba, identified as Ashfaq Alam from Bihar, had also disappeared, raising suspicion of kidnapping. A case of kidnapping was registered with the police thereafter.

Tracking the Suspect on Train

Acting swiftly, police tracked the location of the Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, which Alam was believed to be aboard, and alerted GRP units at Bhusawal and Burhanpur. While the accused managed to evade GRP at Bhusawal, he was caught in the general compartment of the train at Burhanpur railway station around 4:30 am.

Rescue Operation Completed in Two Hours

Senior Police Inspector Audumbar Patil said, "A team from Koparkhairane has gone to Madhya Pradesh to bring the accused and the rescued girl back." The operation was successfully carried out by PSI Mininath Varude, constable Gorakh Kokate, police naik Tushar Chavan, and constable Mahesh Chavan.
