A 55-year-old former techie, Anoop Kumar Nair, was discovered in severe isolation in Juinagar, Navi Mumbai, living amidst trash with no furniture, reflecting neglect of hygiene. His physical health was poor, and he exhibited disorientation, stemming from significant mental health decline after his brother's death twenty years prior and subsequent loss of his parents.

Concerns for mental illness highlight its potential invisibility, especially for those lacking support. A 2018 Podar Institute survey indicated that 40 percent of Mumbai’s youth aged 20-30 experienced depressive feelings, though few sought help. This case stresses the urgent need for awareness and intervention in mental health for isolated individuals.
