The MRA Marg Police have registered a case against 57-year-old printing businessman, Chetan Devidas Thakkar, for allegedly creating a public nuisance in the Kabutarkhana area near Mint Road, General Post Office, Fort.

According to the police report, the incident occurred on August 12 between 9:00 am and 9:30 am. Thakkar, a resident of Bora Bazaar Street, Fort, was allegedly found violating court orders related to public cleanliness and hygiene in the Kabutarkhana premises.
High Court Orders on Cleanliness
The Bombay High Court had earlier directed that the Kabutarkhana area must be kept clean, as its unhygienic condition posed a potential health risk to the public. The court prohibited activities such as feeding pigeons and littering in the area.

Police sources said Thakkar was seen feeding pigeons and contributing to unsanitary conditions, thereby creating a health hazard. Based on this, a case was registered under Sections 223 and 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and he was served notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Police have reiterated their appeal to citizens to follow public health and cleanliness guidelines, especially in high-density areas like Kabutarkhana, to avoid health risks and legal action.
