Mumbai: A case of fraud has come to light in which a homemaker was allegedly cheated of Rs 54,720 by a group who promised to secure a job for her son in Australia. The complainant Nisha Dinesh Kanojia, has filed Complainant and as per Complaint an FIR has been registered in the Kanjurmarg police Station, Police now investigating the matter.
Nisha Kanojia, who has been residing in Kanjurmarg since August 2024 with her husband and two sons, said her elder son, Viren Kanojia (23), aspired to work in Australia. In pursuit of this, she approached a relative, Savita Kanojia from Mira Road. Savita introduced her to Sujata Dubey from Bhayandar, who claimed she could arrange a confirmed job in Australia for Viren and demanded Rs 50,000 for the same.
Trusting Dubey, who also presented some forged documents to build credibility, Nisha paid Rs 30,000 via UPI on March 15, followed by another Rs 20,000 on April 12. Later, Akash Sharma, who stays with Savita, asked Viren to pay an additional Rs 4,720 as exam fees, which was transferred to a woman named Ghazala Ansari via Google Pay on April 20.
Despite waiting for over four months, Viren was neither sent to Australia nor was the money refunded. When Nisha followed up, both Sujata and Akash allegedly avoided giving clear answers.
With no resolution in sight, Nisha filed a complaint against Sujata Dubey and Akash Sharma for cheating in Kanjurmarg Police Station. As per Complaint an FIR has been registered against Sujata Dubey And Akash Sharma under Section 420 (Cheating), Section 406 ( Criminal Breach of Trust) and 34 (act done by several Persons in furtherance of Common intension) of IPC and the police have initiated further investigation.
