The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has declared that it will announce the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination today at 1 PM. In 2024, the HSC results were declared on May 21, making this year's announcement around 15 days earlier.

This year marks the first time that the HSC results are being declared in the first week of May. The early declaration aims to give students sufficient time to apply for higher education courses and prepare for competitive entrance exams following their Class 12 results. To facilitate this, the board had advanced the examination schedule, conducting the exams from 11 February to 11 March.

Mahendra Ganpule, former president of the Maharashtra Headmasters' Association, welcomed the move. "With the results being declared earlier, students will now have more time to prepare for re-examination of the papers they fail in. Not only that, it will also give students some more time to prepare for entrance exams as early declaration of results will give them time to plan for their future accordingly," he said.

This year, approximately 15.05 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 board exams held across the state in February and March. A total of 15,05,037 students took part in the examination, comprising 8,10,348 boys, 6,94,652 girls, and 37 transgender students. In the Mumbai division alone, 3,38,478 students appeared for the HSC exams, marking a significant increase of 17,000 candidates compared to the previous year.

A commerce stream student from Mumbai, expressed a mix of anticipation and anxiety ahead of the results. "I am excited yet nervous about the results tomorrow. I had prepared my best and hope that the results turn out to be good," she said.

The 2024 exams saw an overall pass percentage of 93.37%, with girls outperforming boys at 95.44% compared to 91.60%. This year’s pass rate is expected to improve further.

The examinations were conducted by the Board's nine divisional offices: Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan.
