A 60-year-old man was allegedly killed by a neighbouring family in Aarey on Saturday. The police have arrested five individuals in connection with the incident.
According to the police, a heated argument between two families over building a hut escalated into a violent clash. Both sides allegedly attacked each other with weapons. During the fight, the 60-year-old man, identified as Furkan Khan, sustained serious injuries and later died in a hospital.
The incident took place at Unit 32, Mandva Slum, in Aarey Colony. Police stated that the main accused, Johruddin alias Bada Kalu, is known for constructing illegal slums and selling them to make money. His mother, Razia, his brother Ajharuddin alias Ajju and his sister-in-law Afrin are also involved in his illegal activities.
Bada Kalu is a history-sheeter with more than 35 criminal cases registered against him in the past, including theft, extortion, dacoity and attempted murder. He had previously been externed from the area by the police. However, after returning, a dispute arose between his family and Khan’s family over the construction of a hut.
This dispute soon turned violent. Bada Kalu and his family allegedly attacked Khan’s family and friends with sharp weapons. During the attack, Khan sustained severe injuries. His family rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

During the attack, Khan also retaliated and struck Bada Kalu with a sword, causing him serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The police have registered a case against Bada Kalu, his brother, his mother and his sister-in-law. His brother has fled, while his mother and sister-in-law have been arrested.
The police also registered a case against Khan and his associates, Nitesh Pal, Arabaj Khan, Rajesh Waghmare and Sunny Ram.
Sunny Ram is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. The police arrested Nitesh Pal, Arabaj Khan, and Rajesh Waghmare. In total, five individuals were arrested within an hour of the incident.
