Mumbai: In a disturbing incident in Mumbai, a 72-year-old woman was attacked by her neighbour following a minor disagreement. The tragedy occurred on Monday evening at Vasanthi Bhavan, a residential bungalow near Balbharti on SV Road in the Kabadiwali locality of Malad (West).
The victim, identified as Ranjana Sanghwani, lived in one section of the bungalow along with her differently abled sister. The accused, Ashok Keswani, occupied an adjacent portion of the same building and lived alone.
According to police sources, the two had ongoing disputes and frequently argued over minor matters for the past few days. On Monday at around 4 p.m., the situation escalated when Sanghwani left some of her belongings outside her residence.
Keswani took issue with this and asked her to remove them, leading to a verbal confrontation. The argument rapidly intensified, and in a sudden burst of anger, Keswani allegedly attacked her with a knife six times; the woman died on the spot.

The Kandivali Police station mentioned that "he has been arrested and booked under the relevant sections of murder", according to Midday report. A police official confirmed that Keswani has been charged with murder under the appropriate legal provisions.
An investigation is currently in progress to determine the exact reason for the crime by the police. Authorities are also recording statements from witnesses and the victim’s family. Officers from the Kandivali Police Station responded promptly and arrested Keswani at the scene.
This incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting how longstanding personal conflicts can tragically escalate into violence. The police continue to probe deeper into the case to ensure justice for the victim.
