Mumbai: In a shocking case of extortion and violence, a 44-year-old badminton coach was brutally stabbed by three local miscreants in Chembur after refusing to pay a weekly extortion amount of Rs 1,000.

The incident took place late Sunday night near the Babasaheb Ambedkar SRA Building in Prabuddha Nagar. The victim, Prafulla Ghatvisave, was speaking with a friend outside his residence when the accused Sunny Madhukar Bhosale (30), Sunny Ramdas Buchude (32), and Vikas Khetre (28) approached him, as reported by The Times Of India.

The accused introduced themselves as members of the "Sunny gang." The trio demanded Rs 1,000 per week from the rent of a room owned by the sister of Ghatvisave's friend, identified as Shobha Sakhra. When Ghatvisave refused to pay the amount, the accused forcibly snatched his gold bracelet and began assaulting him.

During the altercation, Sunny Bhosale allegedly pulled out a broken beer bottle and stabbed Ghatvisave multiple times in the abdomen, leaving him seriously injured. He was immediately rushed to Sion Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, the RCF Police registered an FIR under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 386 (extortion), and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. As reported, a manhunt is underway to arrest the three accused, who are currently absconding.

In another shocking incident, adding to Mumbai’s growing crime list, a long-standing property dispute between two brothers in Chembur took a violent turn, leaving the younger sibling critically injured and the elder under arrest for attempted murder.

The victim, 26-year-old Suraj Mohammed Ramkishor Thakur, was allegedly stabbed multiple times by his elder brother during a heated argument. He is currently undergoing treatment at Sion Hospital and remains in critical condition.

RCF Police have arrested the accused, 32-year-old Chandramohan Ramkishor Thakur, and booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempted murder.
