Mumbai: Mumbai Airport Customs officials intercepted one Indian national at CSMI Airport, who was about to depart for Dubai from Mumbai with foreign currency and diamonds collectively valued at Rs 1.70 crore.

According to the Customs sources, on the basis of specific intelligence received, the officers of Mumbai Customs intercepted one Indian national at CSMI Airport, who was about to depart for Dubai from Mumbai on 17.06.2025.

"On examination of baggage and personal search of the passenger, 50000 Saudi Riyal equivalent to Rs 11,15,000 and lab grown diamond valued at Rs 47,22,450 and natural diamonds valued at Rs 1,23,72,450 were recovered from the passenger," said a Customs official.

"The said seized foreign currency was found concealed in the black coloured sling bag of the passenger and diamonds were concealed in three pouches in the body cavity of the passenger. Further investigation is in progress," the official added.
