Maharashtra Revenue Department Forms 7 New Panels To Enhance Public-Friendly Administration
The decision is a part of the recent workshop organised by the revenue department for the divisional commissioners and the district collectors. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who addressed the workshop, had suggested the formation of committees under six divisional commissioners.

Mumbai: The revenue department on Wednesday announced the formation of seven committees to further streamline the administrative ecosystem. The panels have been formed to understand the requirements of people along with their participation for a public-friendly administration, read the government resolution issued in this regard.
The decision is a part of the recent workshop organised by the revenue department for the divisional commissioners and the district collectors. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who addressed the workshop, had suggested the formation of committees under six divisional commissioners.
Accordingly, a committee under the divisional commissioner of Amravati will work on key performance indicators (KPI) for the revenue department officers. Each government employee working with the divisional commissioner’s office, district collector, tehsil and land records offices will get the KPIs to perform their duties.
A panel under the divisional commissioner of Pune will work on various services offered to citizens, identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and suggest the usage of information technology and artificial intelligence. Besides, it will also suggest amendments to the existing laws, rules and regulations.
A committee under the divisional commissioner for Konkan will strengthen the district planning committees that work on various development schemes. It will suggest outdated schemes, new ways for effective working and funds to be earmarked for various public-friendly schemes.
Similarly, the Nashik divisional commissioner will study the present structure of the revenue department and his commission will recommend work allocation to various departments and the changes, if required.
A committee under the divisional commissioner of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will review the various district and tehsil-level committees. It will suggest disbanding the committees that are not required and suggest new ones if any. Besides, the panel will recommend the merger of committees with similar purposes.

The seventh panel has been formed for better coordination among the different wings of the revenue departments. The settlement commissioner and director of land records will head the commission that comprises the inspector general for registration and stamps, the officer on special duty of the additional chief secretary (revenue department) and the private secretary to the revenue minister. All the committees have been given a deadline until June to submit their reports.
