Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the government's commitment to empowering women at a Raksha Bandhan event in Mulund. He assured that the beloved sisters scheme will continue, with an increase in the honorarium at the appropriate time.

Despite the temporary halt in funds, Fadnavis stated that money would be resumed for women qualifying in the upcoming re-examination by the District Collector. He dismissed claims of corruption, attributing them to political opponents, and urged women to be cautious of those obstructing the scheme. Fadnavis clarified that funds from the scheme go directly from the government treasury to women, countering allegations of misconduct.

The Chief Minister acknowledged challenges from some who have opposed the Ladki Bahin scheme, including court cases and baseless corruption claims. He proclaimed that those opposing this initiative are distressed by its success and its ability to operate without corruption. Fadnavis affirmed that their efforts will not let down the sisters who contributed to their electoral victory.

Additionally, he addressed issues of fraud, mentioning that certain individuals had wrongfully accessed funds claiming to be women. He confirmed that these individuals had been penalized, and directives were given to ensure that even if a mistake occurred, genuine beneficiaries would still receive their funds.

In a progressive move, Fadnavis announced the establishment of self-help group malls in ten districts, aiming to empower women entrepreneurs. With a target of creating one crore lakh didis in the state, the government envisions significant support for women, promising that efforts to foster economic independence will continue robustly.
