Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has ignited political debate with his comments on colleagues facing allegations, particularly Dhananjay Munde, who is under fire from the opposition and ruling Mahayuti allies over his alleged ties to Valmik Karad, an accused in a sarpanch murder case. Pawar emphasised that the decision to resign lies with Munde but cited his own resignation during the irrigation scam allegations as a precedent.
“I had tendered my resignation when the allegations in the irrigation scam were made against me. Now, it is up to Dhananjay Munde to decide whether he will resign or not,” Ajit Pawar said.
Pawar emphasised that any action would only be taken once the allegations are proven or if the investigation reaches a decisive point. “Each person makes their own decisions. When the irrigation scam allegations were raised, I resigned after careful consideration and in line with my conscience,” he added. With Ajit Pawar’s recent remarks, attention now turns to Dhananjay Munde’s decision – whether he will resign or hold his position.
