Comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee have made headlines by purchasing one of the most chilling pieces of paranormal history: the former home of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren in Monroe, Connecticut. The house, which also served as the Warrens’ infamous Occult Museum, is home to the real-life Annabelle doll-the inspiration behind The Conjuring and the Annabelle movie franchise.

Rife shared the big news on Instagram, calling it an “insane announcement,” and revealed that he and Castee will be the legal guardians of the haunted artifact collection, including the notorious Annabelle doll, for the next five years.

A paranormal dream come true for Rife

Known for his love of horror and the supernatural, Rife expressed immense excitement about owning what he described as “one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.” He praised the Warrens for introducing the world to famous hauntings like the Amityville Horror and The Conjuring House. “This is a dream come true,” Rife said, also naming The Conjuring as his all-time favorite horror film.

The new owners plan to share this spine-chilling experience with the public. Rife announced they will soon open the property for overnight stays and guided museum tours, allowing fans and thrill-seekers to immerse themselves in the haunted history of the house and its mysterious relics.

Concerns raised after recent death tied to doll

While fans were excited, some voiced concern following the recent death of Dan Rivera, the former handler of the Annabelle doll. Rivera, 54, died suddenly on July 13 during the doll's nationwide tour. A respected investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), Rivera was found deceased in a hotel room in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Authorities noted no foul play, and the cause of death remains under investigation.

Annabelle still touring despite tragedy

Despite the tragedy, NESPR has confirmed that Annabelle will continue her U.S. tour. Her upcoming stops include Augusta, Maine (September 6–7), Rock Island Roadhouse Esoteric Expo in Illinois (October 4), and ScareFest Weekend in Lexington, Kentucky (October 17–19).

Earlier this year, rumors swirled that the doll had gone missing during a Louisiana visit. Rivera himself had addressed the speculation in a TikTok video, reassuring fans that Annabelle was safely secured in her case at the museum.
