Maheshwar (Madhya Pradesh): A newborn baby girl was found abandoned and covered in insects in Karoli village, Maheshwar. This incident occurred on Monday morning when villagers discovered the baby in a bag, just hours after her birth.
Insects had severely bitten her nose and both lips, said locals. At 7 am, villagers heard the faint cries of a newborn coming from the bushes.
Parshram Gurjar, former village sarpanch representative, rushed to the scene. He found the baby girl in a bag, quickly cleaned her up and called for an ambulance.
The baby was taken to community health centre in Maheshwar. Block medical officer (BMO) Dr Atul Gaur reported, "The girl was born just a few hours ago and weighs only 1,200 grams. Insects have badly bitten her lips and nose."
After receiving first aid, the baby was referred to the District Hospital in Khargone for further treatment. Dr Gaur noted that the girl may have been born prematurely and likely delivered at home.
Upon learning of this tragic event, the Maheshwar Police began an investigation.
Police station in-charge Jagdish Goyal stated, "We have registered a case against an unknown person and are actively searching for the culprit. Strict legal action will be taken."
