Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh), May 20: In a shocking incident, a video has surfaced on social media in which a police officer is seen beating an ice cream seller in the middle of the road in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr. The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that the police officer is beating the ice cream vendor with stick allegedly after the seller denied free ice cream to the cop. As the video went viral on social media, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) took action against the accused police officer.

There are reports that the incident occurred in the Jahangirabad area of Bulandshahr. Sub-Inspector Hari Singh arrived at an ice cream shop in his police vehicle. CCTV footage shows him stopping the vehicle in front of the cart. The police officer is seen calling the vendor and then scolding him. Suddenly, the officer began hitting the seller with a stick in the middle of the road.

In the video, the young seller can be seen repeatedly apologising and trying to escape from the spot, however, the officer continued to hit and threaten him. The people present on the spot claimed that the officer first asked for free ice cream, saying the shop was open late at night. When the seller refused, the officer got angry and started misbehaving.

The entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera near the ice cream cart and the video has now been widely shared on social media, causing outrage.

Reacting to the incident, SSP said that Sub-Inspector Hari Singh, who is posted at the Jahangirabad Police Station, has been removed from duty (line hazir) and a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him based on the report by the Anoopshahr area officer.

The police replied to the viral video and said, "Taking cognizance of the above video, the sub-inspector has been placed on line duty with immediate effect and orders for a departmental inquiry have been given."
