Prayagraj: In a major development in the 69,000 teacher recruitment case, the Allahabad High Court has ruled that candidates who obtained their educational qualifications after 2018 are ineligible for selection.

Acting on this, the Basic Education Council has directed all Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSAs) to terminate the services of such teachers immediately.

A letter issued on 9 May 2025 by Council Secretary Surendra Kumar Tiwari mandates BSAs to remove teachers appointed despite not meeting the eligibility cut-off.

The High Court clearly stated that no candidate with post-2018 qualifications is valid for appointment under the original recruitment notification.

The recruitment drive saw 31,277 teachers appointed in the first phase and others in subsequent rounds. However, the discovery that some selections occurred beyond the cut-off date has prompted legal action.
