The tragedy also left one rescuer dead and four others injured, with several passengers still unaccounted for. According to police sources, the van tried to negotiate the road with a biker and knocked down the rider before plunging into the well. The bike rider died on the spot.

Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): As many as ten people were killed and four sustained injuries on Sunday afternoon when an Eco van plunged into a well after hitting a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district.
The accident occurred around 1:15 pm at Budha-Takarwat Phata under Narayangarh police station area.
According to police, the Eco van (MP09-WC2452) from Khojan Kheda village near Jaora lost control and collided with a motorcycle before falling into a nearby open well. The victims were traveling to visit Aatri Mata temple.
10 deceased identified
The 10 deceased have been identified as residents of Mandsaur and Ratlam districts, including Gobar Singh, Manohar Singh, Kanhaiya Lal Keer, Nagu Singh, Pawan Keer, Dharmendra Singh, Asha Bai, Madhu Bai, Mangu Bai and Ram Kunwar.
Gobar Singh was from Abakhedi, a resident of Sitamau, and was riding the motorcycle involved in the collision.
Manohar Singh, a local resident who had descended into the well to assist with rescue operations, also died after inhaling poisonous gas from the well while saving others, said Narayangarh police station in charge Anil Raghuwanshi. Reports indicate he had rescued 2-3 people.
4 injured undergoing treatment
The four injured survivors - Maya Keer (26), Priyanshi (3), Devendra (12) and Mukesh (27) - are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.
Emergency teams have recovered two bodies so far and have successfully extracted the vehicle using a crane. Four injured survivors, including 3-year-old Priyanshi, have been rescued and admitted to Mandsaur District Hospital.

Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, who rushed to the scene, confirmed that 13 people were involved in the accident. “First the children were taken out and sent to the hospital,” Devda told reporters.
“Due to poisonous gas in the well, Manoj Singh, who went to rescue victims, has also died,” he added.
District officials including Collector Aditi Garg, SP Abhishek Anand, ASP Gautam Solanki and SDOP Narendra Solanki are overseeing rescue operations at the site.
