Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore finally ended their 18-year-long wait for an IPL trophy by defeating Punjab Kings in a nail-biting final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Thousands of Fans across the country were celebrating their favourite franchise's victory on Tuesday.
However, their celebrations were marred by the police in some parts of Hyderabad and Bengaluru. When the overjoyed fans did not leave despite the police explaining the deadline and citing law and order, the police used mild force on fans bursting crackers and celebrating on the road late night.
Telengana police can be seen charging towards fans, who have come in large numbers on bikes. The police can be seen dispersing the crowd and hitting some with sticks. The sky can be seen lit up with fireworks and massive traffic conjection can also be seen.
Visuals from Bengaluru's Kalaburagi show, a huge number of fans gathered with flags, drums, and chants of “Ee Sala Cup Namde” (“This year, the cup will be ours.”) The police exercised mild lathi charge to control the swelling.
No injuries were reported due to the Lathi charge and despite the lathi charge many ,fans remained undeterred, continuing to celebrate.
