Eye on top job

A female officer deputed to the centre is keeping her eyes on the happenings in the state. Madam, though posted in Delhi, is paying attention to the goings-on in the state. She has set her eyes on an important administrative position in MP. In the coming days, the race for this post may intensify. In these circumstances, madam has laid her claim to the post through her clout. It is heard that she has expressed her desire for the position in the presence of a senior politician.

Madam has political connections through which she is making efforts to achieve the target. As she is posted to the centre, the officer is well-connected with some important people in power. Against this backdrop, she does not want to leave the opportunity to grab the position she longs for. A few well-wishers of Madam have also swung into action. These well-wishers are trying to help Madam through the RSS functionaries and BJP leaders so that she may get the coveted post.

Taking credit

A senior officer had been taking credit for an important policy of the government. Soon after the implementation of the policy, the officer began to say it was he who worked hard to shape it. But at a recent meeting, when the higher-ups gave more credit to another senior officer than him, the Sahib looked upset. When the Bade Sahib mentioned the names of some senior officers concerned with the policy, he gave maximum credit to an additional chief secretary. The Bade Sahib also said it was the ACS who prepared the policy long ago. As the ACS had already worked on the policy, there was no problem in implementing it. A deputy secretary-rank officer also got the credit for the policy. The Bade Sahib said the deputy secretary had also worked hard to prepare it. Because a few other officers got appreciation from the higher-ups, the Sahib, who had been taking credit for it, has stopped talking much about the policy.

Up the creek

A senior woman IAS officer is up the creek these days. Her name has figured in a search carried out by a probe agency. The sleuths of the agency came across the madam’s name in the documents they laid their hands on during the search in the house of a person. After her name figured in the documents, the officials of the agency registered statements. In the statements, it came to light that Madam had given some money to the person on whose premises the officials carried out searches.

She has managed the affair to some extent, but as her name has figured in the documents, the fear of prosecution will continue to loom over her. As Madam made efforts to sweep the issue under the rug, she had to explain the case to several people. The officer has, in fact, a clean image. So far, there has been no allegation against her, but the case has tarnished her image. The money that Madam gave to the person concerned to buy a property has nothing to do with bribery. The officer got some cash by selling some of her old properties and used it to purchase new chattels. But now, the probe agency may entrap her at any time in the case.

Efforts for transfer

A principal secretary is making all efforts for transfer. The officer has been sent to the loop line since the formation of the government, but he, somehow, wants to come out of it. He recently met all the powerful officers and requested them to help him get out of the loop line. The place where he is posted does not have much work to do. So, he wants to join any department as principal secretary in Mantralaya.

The head of state is angry with this officer. His attitude towards an issue was not correct. After the incident, the head of state was annoyed with the officer. Similarly, a few days ago, the officer also enraged a powerful politician. An officer has told the Sahib that he cannot return to the mainstream administration until he woos the political masters. Now, the principal secretary is trying to please the political bosses. He is seeking the help of a powerful politician so that he may return to the mainstream administration.

Loss of confidence

An IAS officer has lost the confidence in his ability to do something worthy and show it to the government. An officer recently went for training, and the name of the officer was recommended to the Bade Sahib for taking charge in place of his colleague who had gone for training.  Before issuing an order, the Bade Sahib struck off the name of the officer and put the name of another. The image of this officer before the higher-ups is that he cannot do anything. The Sahib got an important assignment when the government was formed. After a few months, the government had to remove him from such an important assignment.

The government gave him another important job. But the higher-ups had to transfer him from that place, too.  Then he was transferred to an important department again. But when the condition of the department began to deteriorate, the government had to remove him from there. The officer is still holding an important position, but he may be removed from there in the coming days. As he has failed to perform anywhere, the government treats him as one of the non-performing officers.

Locking horns

Two important persons have locked horns in a department considered important for the government. The dispute between the Principal Secretary (PS) and a person wielding a lot of power in the department has deepened. The main reason behind their bitter relationship is that the influential person wants to run the department on his own. All the work of the department is being done according to the wishes of the influential person. The files are sent to the PS just to complete formalities. The influential person does the rest of the work. The PS put up with it for a long time, but now, he has lost his patience.

The officer kept away from an event recently organised by the department.  Some other departments are also functioning under the PS. Thus, he has begun to pay attention to those departments. The PS has an old score with the influential person close to the government. When the PS was powerful, he did not give much importance to the person. Now, since the person has become influential, he is keeping the PS on a tight leash. The PS thinks that before he gets entangled in the controversy, he should bid goodbye to the department.
