Ahmedabad Weather: Heavy Rainfall Is Predicted In These Regions Of Gujarat With Thunderstorms & Lightning; IMD Issues Orange Alert

Ahmedabad: Numerous regions in Gujarat are experiencing unseasonal rain and strong winds and, due to intense weather conditions, 14 people have died till yet. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted continued thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in the coming days.

The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to experience 25 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively. The wind is expected to blow at a speed of 50-60 kmph. Many regions have been experiencing rainfall since Saturday night.

Why is Gujarat experiencing unseasonal rainfall?

Gujarat is experiencing unseasonal rainfall due to the combination of weather patterns, including a cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and a north-south trough extending from central India to southern Tamil Nadu. The upper air cyclonic circulation also extends towards the Gujarat coast at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level. These factors influence conditions like strong winds, thunderstorms, and even hailstorms, disrupting the typical summer weather.

Rainfall is predicted in these regions of Gujarat

According to the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat, and is likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds. Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Dahod, Panchmahal, and Chhota Udepur are also likely to receive rainfall.

An orange alert has been issued for North Gujarat, Central Gujarat, and Saurashtra-Kutch regions due to expected heavy rainfall and high wind speeds. The IMD has also forecast rain in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Bharuch, and Narmada.
