Patna: Rajya Sabha MP and AAP national spokesperson Sanjay Singh on Friday announced that the party would contest all 243 seats in the upcoming assembly election with a focus on the Muslim-dominated region of the state.

While talking to reporters, Singh ruled out the possibility of alliance with any political party, including newly formed Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP).

He said that Delhi’s former chief minister and party’s convener Arvind Kejriwal had already given his consent to state leaders’ proposal to field its candidates in all the 243 assembly seats in the state. He said that the party had already started preparations for the elections due in October-November this year.

To a query, Singh said that the party leadership had decided to go to the state`s people with its ideology and its performance in AAP ruled states. He said that he would soon visit Muslim dominated districts in Seemanchal region and meet leaders of minority communities. “We will formulate the party's poll strategy for Seemanchal after holding meetings with minority community people,” he asserted.

Since Seemanchal region is dominated by traditional parties, AAP will formulate a new strategy for people of the region, who have been neglected for long, he stated, while accusing Nitish government of holding back the growth of the region.

When asked whether AAP’s move would adversely affect prospects of RJD-Congress led grand alliance in Bihar, Singh said that he didn’t know AAP’s poll strategy would leave an impact on any political party or combine. “I don’t know any thermometer which gives a measure of which party will harm the other in coming elections,” he said.

Referring to ongoing EC’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, AAP leader alleged that EC was working at the instance of BJP. “Names of voters from Muslim community are being deleted under a well-hatched conspiracy, which people should know. SIR of electoral rolls is a part of larger conspiracy to deprive people of rights to vote, he alleged.
