Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, on Thursday dismissed the rumours about him joining Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party amid ongoing speculation about him being upset with Congress leadership after he was denied access to the stage with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav.
Responding to journalist Deepak Chaurasia's post that claimed Pappu Yadav may join Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party today, Pappu Yadav took a potshot at him, saying "Deepak bhai aaj sabere sabere maar liye hain kya? App to prime time me ghoont lekar jaate the, aaj itna sabere, koi bade frustration me hain kya?" (Deepak bhai, have you been drinking so early in the morning today? You used to have your drinks during prime time, but today so early - are you under some major frustration?)
Notably, in December 2021, it was alleged that Chaurasia appeared drunk on live TV and subsequently went off the air. Chaurasia was seen speaking in a peculiar way, which made several Twitter users wonder if the news anchor was drunk while hosting the show. Also, in a slip of the tongue, he referred to General Bipin Rawat as VP Singh and said "we lost a journalist" instead of "general." Later, he was abruptly taken off the air by the channel.
Deepak Chaurasia had claimed in the post that "Today, Pappu Yadav might join Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party! He is hurt by not being called on stage with Rahul-Tejashwi yesterday!"
Deepak Chaurasia's post follows a recent incident during the Mahagathbandhan's Bihar Bandh protest in Patna, where MP Pappu Yadav and Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar were stopped from boarding the stage on Wednesday, however, several other Mahagathbandhan leaders were allowed to share the stage with Rahul Gandhi.
After the incident, Pappu Yadav attempted to downplay what can be called an embarrassing situation, saying, "I fell down and got hurt. One leader from each party was present there, but this is not an insult. Who sees this as what depends on them... Nothing is greater than the public; it is acceptable to be insulted for them, not just once but even a million times."
