Mahoba (Uttar Pradesh): Brijbhushan Rajput, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Charkhari constituency in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district, announced the beginning of a 30-day silent fast (maun vrat) from Friday, July 11, to mark the auspicious month of Shravan.
The announcement was made via his official Facebook account, where he also revealed that this marks the 366th consecutive day of his ongoing religious fasting, during which he has subsisted solely on fruits.
30-Day Silent Fasting After 365 Days Of Fasting
In a heartfelt social media post on Facebook, Rajput expressed his spiritual journey over the past year, calling it an inner pilgrimage guided by the blessings of Lord Shiva. “With the divine grace of Mahadev, today marks the completion of 365 days of my fast. This journey continues into the 366th day. Starting today, for the sacred month of Shravan, I will observe a 30-day silent fast. This vow is an attempt to deepen my self-reflection, devotion, and connection with Lord Shiva,” he wrote.
Rajput assured his constituents that his family and team will continue to serve the public during this period. He also confirmed he will stay connected with the people through social media.
Earlier in the day, the BJP legislator performed special rituals with his family to mark the 366th day of his fasting journey. Offering prayers to Lord Shiva, he sought the deity’s blessings for the well-being, prosperity, and spiritual growth of the people in his constituency. “I pray daily for the happiness and success of all residents,” he stated.

In a separate post, Rajput provided his contact information for constituents needing to reach him during his period of silence. “From today onwards, I will remain in maun vrat for the next 30 days. I humbly request you to contact me via mobile at 9415014918 for any important matters. Thank you for your cooperation,” he wrote.
