Bollywood actress Zareen Khan has criticised the current paparazzi culture, particularly slamming photographers who click female celebrities from inappropriate angles and zoom in on their body parts. In a recent interview, the Veer actress questioned the ethics of such practices and called for a shift in how female public figures are portrayed in the media.
"I cannot really understand today's paparazzi culture. I'm not saying all of them do it, but there are many paps who zoom in on areas where there's absolutely no need to," Zareen said during a conversation with Hindi Rush.
Stating how celebrities should be identified by their work and faces rather than objectified visuals, Zareen added, "A celebrity is known by their face, right? So how can you show some random body part and ask 'Guess who?' And that too a weird body part. I don't understand what they're trying to do."
Zareen further expressed disappointment over the trend, which initially seemed to go viral but has now drawn public backlash as well. "Earlier, I thought their videos were going viral because of this. But now, even the public, the audience, is not enjoying it anymore. They also find it disgusting," she stated.
Her remarks come amid growing criticism from several other celebrities who have called out such invasive behaviour. Actresses like Janhvi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Neha Bhasin, Rashami Desai, Mona Singh, Ayesha Khan, and Manushi Chhillar have all spoken out against paps clicking photos of them from behind or focusing on their bodies instead of their presence or personality.
Just a few days back, Zareen also lashed out at paparazzi for clicking her from behind. Check out the video below:
Meanwhile, on the work front, Zareen was last seen in the 2021 film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele. She has not announced any of her upcoming projects yet.
