Metro In Dino Box Office Collection Day 3: After A Slow Start, Anurag Basu's Film Shows A Good Jump Over The Weekend

After getting delayed multiple times, Anurag Basu's directorial, Metro In Dino, finally hit the big screens last Friday, July, 4, 2025. The film stars Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sensharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The movie took a slow start at the box office with an opening of Rs. 3.50 crore, but because of the positive reviews, and good word of mouth, it showed a good jump over the weekend.

According to Sacnilk, Metro In Dino on Saturday collected Rs. 6 crore, and on Sunday it minted approx. Rs. 7.25 crore, taking the three-day total to Rs. 16.75 crore. Well, it is a strictly average number. The movie should have opened around Rs. 6-7 crore and then showed growth at the box office over the weekend. A Rs. 25-30 crore weekend would have been good but that didn't happen.

Metro In Dino is reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 100 crore. So, a weekend collection of Rs. 16.75 crore is surely very low. The movie needs to be stable on weekdays to collect a decent number by the end of its first week.

Metro In Dino Beats Life In A Metro

Metro In Dino is a spiritual sequel to Life In A Metro. The only thing that the sequel has achieved till now is that it has surpassed the lifetime collection of the 2007 release. Life In A Metro had collected Rs. 15.83 crore.

The Free Press Journal reviewer gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, "At 162 minutes, the film may seem indulgent, but Basu ensures the viewer’s emotional investment pays off. As you leave the theatre, with love prevailing over life's tribulations, it’s hard not to feel a smile tug at your lips—the kind that lingers, not because all is resolved, but because hope endures."
