Actress Janhvi Kapoor was brutally trolled after she was heard chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" at a Dahi Handi event in Mumbai on Saturday. The actress attended a grand event in Mumbai's Ghatkopar suburbs on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, where she said, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", while breaking the matki. "Confused between Independence Day and Janmashtami," netizens joked.

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor was brutally trolled after she was heard chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" at a Dahi Handi event in Mumbai on Saturday. The actress attended a grand event in Mumbai's Ghatkopar suburbs on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, but her goof up left netizens in splits.
In a video which is now going vira, Janhvi can be seen breaking the dahi handi matki with BJP MLA Ram Kadam next to her. As she broke the matki with a coconut, she said, "Bharat Mata ki Jai!", and the crowd cheered and rejoiced.
But within no time, the video was splashed all over the internet for all wrong reasons. Netizens joked that the actress got confused between Independence Day and Janmashtami, and while some called it an innocent mistake, others called it a dumb blunder.

Another netizen commented on Instagram, "Rotated so hard between occasions/festivals this week that she forgot their names and reasons (sic)."
Janhvi has not reacted to the faux pas yet.

Meanwhile, another video from the event had surfaced online on Saturday night in which Janhvi was seen getting brutally mobbed by a sea of fans while she was exiting the venue. The actress looked rather uncomfortable as she got pushed and jostled by the crowd.
On the work front, Janhvi is gearing up for the release of her next, titled Param Sundari, which features her opposite Sidharth Malhotra. It is a cross-cultural love story between a Punjabi boy and a Malayalam girl, and how their love triumphs over their differences.
Param Sundari will release in theatres on August 29.
