Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): A video went viral on social media, showing desperate farmers looting bags of fertiliser in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh.
The clip highlights the acute shortage of fertilisers like urea across the state and the farmers' shrinking faith in the administration.
The incident happened in Tendukheda of Damoh district on Monday, when the farmers took to streets to raise the issue of lack of fertlisers .This time the agitation went out of control as a group of angry farmers looted sacks of fertilisers from the truck as soon as it arrived at the local distribution centre.
According to eyewitnesses, the farmers were frustrated by shortages and long delays. They surrounded the truck and began unloading the fertilizer sacks themselves. The situation escalated when police officials attempted to intervene which led to heated arguments at the scene.
This is not the first such incident as repeated fertiliser issues have triggered the farmers. They are already struggling with high input costs and unpredictable weather.
The protest highlights growing mismanagement in fertilizer distribution during the crucial sowing season.
