Tribal Arts & Crafts Are A Precious Heritage: Governor; Artistes Present Bhagoriya, Gond, Karma, Bharia Dance At Shilpgram Mahotsav |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Governor Mangu Bhai Patel said that food, arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery, equipment and medical practices preserved by tribals for centuries were a precious heritage.
It is the responsibility of the society to preserve and promote this folk culture of ours, he added while addressing the closing ceremony of three-day Shilpgram Mahotsav organised by tribal affairs department at Ravindra Convention Centre in the city on Sunday.
100-seater girls and boys training centre would be initiated soon
Tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah said a 100-seater girls and boys training centre would start in Harsud soon. At the centre, tribal craftsmen and artistes would impart training on tribal art, handicrafts etc.

At the closing ceremony, Suman Paraste and a group from Dindori presented Gond dance while Kailash Sisodia from Dhar presented Bhil and Bhagoriya dance. Ramesh Marawi from Dindori presented Karma dance while Shankar Khamriya from Chhindwara and Hasya Kumar Marawi and group from Dindori presented Bharia and Gond dance.
About 500 tribal artistes from different districts of Madhya Pradesh displayed paintings and handicrafts, made of clay, bamboo, wood and metal. Traditional cuisines of different tribes were sold at stalls.
