Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): State government is going to spend ₹185 crores to upgrade power transmission system to ensure uninterrupted power supply for Simhastha Kumbh Mela - 2028 to be held in Ujjain.

The government has formulated a comprehensive action plan for the period 2025–26 to 2029–30 to strengthen power transmission system across the state.

The estimated expenditure for implementing this plan is ₹5163 crore including ₹185 crore for works related to Simhastha-2028.

Also, ₹1015 crores will be spent on the construction of new Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations and ₹54 crores for new EHV lines to ensure continuous power supply to Morena divisional headquarters and the northern part of Gwalior city.

Energy Minister Pradyumn Singh Tomar said the power transmission system in will be strengthened in the state to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality electricity supply to consumers.

Additionally, ₹1280 crores will be invested in capacity enhancement of existing EHV transformers across the state. Under the RDSS scheme, ₹81 crores will be allocated for the construction of 184 new 33 kV substations for distribution companies.

Conversion of double-pole and four-pole power lines to tower lines will cost ₹662 crores. Loop-in/loop-out of lines replacing high-pressure tap lines and construction of new lines for substations currently supplied by single sources will involve ₹451 crores.

Furthermore, ₹281 crores will be spent on replacement of SCADA systems and other associated works.
