Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Several illegal shops and stalls were removed by the district administration in a major encroachment drive on Tuesday in Satna.
Led by SDM Rahul Sildariya, the municipal corporation’s anti-encroachment team arrived in front of the District Sainik Welfare Board Office and the ITI College building.
Bulldozers were used to clear the area of illegally installed shops and kiosks. Upon seeing the administration team, many street vendors quickly removed their goods. Additionally, plants and saplings planted by the vendors were also cleared as part of the operation.
The drive was aimed at clearing public spaces and ensuring that the area remains free of illegal encroachments.
Armed with a bulldozer, the squad began removing unauthorized structures, many of which were causing serious obstructions on Birla Road. Several footpath vendors, seeing the arrival of the team, voluntarily cleared their stalls and goods. Even trees and plants planted by some traders to mark their space were uprooted.
The encroachment had long been a concern for both locals and commuters. The stretch in front of ITI College was particularly problematic, as fruit and vegetable vendors occupied the space from early morning, creating significant inconvenience for students and staff.
