Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh may get new trains as 200 new Vande Bharat, 100 AMRUT Bharat, 50 Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and 17,500 general non-AC coaches have been proposed to revolutionise travel experience for masses in the next 2 to 3 years.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the country can expect 200 new Vande Bharat, 100 AMRUT Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and 17,500 general non-AC coaches in the next two to three years.
Budgetary allocation of Rs 2,52,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26 has been made as Gross Budgetary Support to the Ministry of Railways.
This year's Budget mentions railway infrastructure development projects in the order of Rs 4.60 lakh crore. Focusing on safety, the Budget allocates Rs 1.60 lakh crore for this year's expenditure to enhance the safety of Indian Railways through various projects.
Earlier, the government, in addition to allocating to Indian Railways. The same allocation of Rs 2,52,000 crore made in the previous fiscal, had made a provision of Rs 10k crore from extra budgetary resources to meet its expenses and modernise it, thus taking the capital expenditure (CAPEX) to Rs 2,62,000 crore.
Expenditure on assets, acquisition, construction and replacement will be met not only from gross budgetary support (including Railway Safety Fund and National Rail Protection Fund) but also from general revenues of Indian Railways. A provision of Rs 200 crore from Nirbhaya Fund is also in the budget.
