Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): A man appealed for euthanasia citing wife's constant threats of filing false dowry complaint against him in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri.
"I do not feel safe at home anymore," the victim was narrating his ordeal during a public hearing held on Wednesday.
Shakir Khan, a resident of Mahal Sarai Purani in Shivpuri alleged that his wife, Farzana would threaten him to implicate him in a false dowry case. Despite multiple complaint to his in-laws and the police, his situation remains unchanged. On the contrary, his father-in-law and brother-in-law issued threats to him.

Unable to take the mental toll anymore, he tried to commit suicide twice so far. Once he consumed poison and the other time by cutting his wrist. However, neither attempt succeeded.
In utter distress Shakir said, "Like some recent crime in the country, even my life is not same anymore. She could have me locked up in a drum or thrown me into some deserted gorge.”

According to reports, Shakir had earlier complained in the police station and SP office, but no concrete action was taken.
Now, with the last cry of hope Shakir has requested the authority in the public hearing to provide him police protection from his wife, or grant him permission for euthanasia
