Madhya Pradesh June 21 Weather Update: Monsoon Lashes Out In State; Meteorological Department Issues Rain Alert For Next 4 Days | Representative Image

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Monsoon has gripped the state entirely with heavy rainfall across several districts. Several regions witnessed overflow of rivers and streams due to rain over the past few days. IMD has issued an alert for rain in the entire state for the next 4 days.

According to the weather department, Guna received the maximum rainfall with 2 inches of rain in a span of 9 hours. Other districts across the state received significant rainfall. Shivpuri received 1.8 inches of rainfall, 1.5 inches in Tikamgarh, and 4.5 inches in Narsinghpur. Many areas like Sagar, Mandla, Chhindwara, Malajkhand, Betul, and Pachmarhi also witnessed at least half an inch of rain.

Other districts including Damoh, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Dhar, Naugaon, Satna, Seoni, Mauganj, Niwari, Sehore, Raisen, Narmadapuram also recived showers on Friday.

Drop in temperature

Due to continuous rain in the state, there's a significant drop in daytime temperature across the state. In the hill station Pachmarhi, the mercury fell to 23.8°C.

The mercury has been reported below 30 degrees in several regions including Malajkhand, Mandla, Guna, Seoni, Sagar, Chhindwara, Dhar, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Damoh, Betul, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Narmadapuram. Sidhi recorded the highest mercury of the state at 33.4 degrees.

Major urban centres

Among the major cities, Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 30.7°C, Indore 28.6°C, Gwalior 30.4°C, Ujjain 30.5°C, and Jabalpur at 28.8°C.

Three systems active in Madhya Pradesh

According to a senior weatherman, activity of low pressure area, three cyclonic circulations and two troughs are influencing the state's weather pattern.One trough is passing close to Madhya Pradesh, resulting in widespread heavy rain. Similar weather pattern is predicted for the next 4 days.

Weather for next two days

22 June: Heavy rain in Guna, Ashoknagar-Shivpuri,4 and a half inches of rain is predicted in next 24 hours. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in other districts including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior.

23 June: Heavy rains may occur in Damoh, Katni, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Guna and Ashoknagar. There is an alert of thunderstorms and rain in other districts as well.
