Indore (Madhya Pradesh): For the first time, the city’s iconic Rajwada served as the venue for a grand mass yoga event on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day on 21. The event drew a large crowd. Residents, health enthusiasts from across age groups performed various Yogasanas.
The programme, aimed at promoting both health and heritage tourism, was organised at this historic site to align with the theme of this year’s celebration: ‘Yoga for One Earth – One Health’.
Union minister for communications Jyotiraditya Scindia attended the event as the chief guest.
Various arrangements for the programme were inspected and reviewed by officials. The programme commenced at 6:00 AM, with a live broadcast of chief minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s address from Bhopal (6:30–6:40 AM), followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message from Visakhapatnam (6:40–7:00 AM). The general yoga protocol session was conducted from 7:00 to 7:45 AM.
Several prominent dignitaries attended the celebration alongside Scindia, including urban administration and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Silawat, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav and other local leaders.
Notably, the day is being celebrated across the nation with much zeal and dedication to improve fitness. People from all fields and age groups— politician, celebrities, working class, men, women and youths participated in group Yoga events held near their places and posted pictures on social media to encourage others to join.
