During the ongoing 1st Test match between England and India at Headingley, a brief but honest moment between Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill lit up the game with a touch of humour and mutual respect for quality cricket. The incident took place when England pacer Brydon Carse bowled a sharp bouncer to Pant, who ducked the ball instinctively and safely.
Moments after avoiding the fiery delivery, Pant turned to his partner at the non-striker’s end and said, “Bada ball daal diya yaar. Respect karna pad gaya, bahot tagda.” (“He bowled a big ball, man. I had to respect that, it was really sharp.”)

Known for his flamboyant strokeplay and aggressive intent, Pant has made a name for counter-attacking fast bowlers. But in this instance, the delivery from Carse was good enough for the Indian vice-captain to pause and acknowledge the bowler's skill.
