Madhya Pradesh: I-T Dept Seeks To Interrogate Saurabh Sharma & Aides; Court To Hear Bail Plea On Thursday

Special public prosecutor Vivek Gaur said that I-T officials have filed an application in Lokayukta court to question the three accused and now the court will hear their plea on Thursday.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Income-Tax department officials are preparing to interrogate former RTO constable Saurabh Sharma and his two aides Chetan Singh Gaur and Sharad Jaiswal currently in jail over the corruption and disproportionate assets case, said officials here on Wednesday.

Lokayukta had taken seven days remand of the trio and ED questioned them for six days. Special public prosecutor Vivek Gaur said that I-T officials have filed an application in Lokayukta court to question the three accused and now the court will hear their plea on Thursday.

Sharma’s advocate has filed a bail application in court and the court is to take up the application on Thursday. On December 19 last year here in Bhopal, Lokayukta police had conducted raids on the premises of Saurabh Sharma and Chetan Singh.

Sharma was found to be in possession of movable assets worth Rs 7.98 crore, including Rs 2.87 crore in cash and 235 kilograms of silver. Thereafter Income Tax department officials had seized a car in which 52 kilogram gold bars worth Rs 40 crore and Rs 11 crore in cash was found from an abandoned SUV at Mandori. The vehicle was registered in the name of Gaur, a close associate of Sharma.

ED court reserve decision on bail plea

On Wednesday, the Special Court of ED heard the bail application of Saurabh Sharma. The government pleaders joined the hearing online and advocate Rakesh Parashar appeared in the Court. The court reserved its order on the bail and is likely to announce it on Thursday.
