Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh has quietly achieved a major milestone—exporting goods worth ₹66,218 crore to the United States -- in the financial year 2024–25. Among the five major countries MP trades with, the US topped the list.
Pharmaceutical companies were the biggest contributors to the success, clocking shipments worth ₹11,968 crore. Of this, pharma units based in Indore, Dewas and Pithampur alone accounted for ₹4,202 crore (approximately USD 496 million).
The figures were revealed in the ‘Export Analysis of Madhya Pradesh 2024–25’ report, released by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). The data was compiled by Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCIS), under Union Ministry of Commerce.
For MP, 2024–25 fiscal marked a record-breaking year, with exports rising to ₹66,218 crore—up from ₹65,255 crore in the previous year. The uptick reflects a broader upward trend in high-value sectors, including pharmaceuticals, engineering goods and agricultural produce.
While pharma maintained its stronghold, engineering and food-processing exports also surged, showcasing the state's growing strength in diversified export categories.
MP leaps to 11th spot
Madhya Pradesh has taken a big step forward in India’s export story. In 2024–25, the state jumped four places—from 15th to 11th—in the national export rankings, marking its highest position ever.
It’s not just about the impressive export total of ₹66,218 crore. The leap shows how MP is steadily making its mark in the country’s trade map.
Behind this growth are some key strengths: thriving pharma hubs, rising engineering goods, and soy-based agricultural products—all helping the state become more competitive in global markets.
Indore region drives MP’s surge
In 2024–25, Madhya Pradesh’s export story had a clear centre of gravity—the Indore–Dhar–Dewas belt. As highlighted in the state’s Economic Survey, Indore and Dhar topped the charts as the leading export districts.
At the heart of it all is Indore, whose buzzing industrial zones—Pithampur, SEZs, and specialised clusters—are producing everything from pharmaceuticals and auto parts to textiles, food products, and FMCG goods. Dhar, with its growing garment and textile sector, adds serious weight to the region’s export output.
Dewas, meanwhile, is rising fast, building its name as both a soybean processing hub and a promising player in the pharma space. A mix of entrepreneurial spirit, ready availability of skilled labour, and easy access to ICDs and ports has made the achievement a success. Together, these three districts have not just powered MP’s exports—they’ve created a model for how strong local ecosystems can link seamlessly to global markets.
