Hindu Groups Protest After Muslim Teachers Conducts Marriages With Hindu Rituals Under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana In Sheopur

Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): A protest broke out by hindu community after 10 Muslim teachers were involved in conducting Hindu marriage rituals under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana on Thursday.

Hindu groups argued that it was not appropriate for Muslim teachers to perform these religious ceremonies. This led to protests by Hindu organizations, who criticized the event and called for respect for traditional practices.

The marriage was conducted as per the Hindu norms at Heavy Machinery Tin Shed on Bypass Road. Muslim teachers included Ismail Khan, Bundu Khan, Shamshad Khan, Mumtaz Ali, Safdar Hussain, Naqvi Ghazala Nomani, Imam Ali, Munawwar Jahan, Nuzhat Parveen, Bundu Khan.

These teachers sat on the havan altar and got the marriages done with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. They also completed rituals like performing pheras, gathbandhan, offering havan samagri, and applying sindoor.

This act drew a sharp criticism from the right wing organisations who alleged that the officiation of Hindu marriages by non-Brahmin and non-Hindu individuals disrespects religious customs. These Hindu organisations claimed that such ceremonies should only be conducted by Brahmins or Kul Purohits. They condemned this incident on behalf of the brahman community.

They gave cheques and blessings of the amount fixed by the state government to the newly married couples and helmets to the grooms. Poor girls were given special gifts worth 1 lakh 40 thousand at the time of farewell. These included cupboard, cooler, double bed, fridge, sofa set, electric press, dressing table, mixer grinder, kitchen utensils, wall clock, makeup box for the bride, silver toe ring, anklet, mangalsutra, ear tops, clothes of the bride and groom.

The event was concluded peacefully

Despite the anger and repulsion, the program proceeded with enthusiasm. BJP District President Shashank Bhushan attended as the chief guest and distributed cheques and government-sanctioned gifts to the newlywed couples.

Each poor bride received gifts worth ₹1.4 lakh, including essential household items like a double bed, fridge, cupboard, utensils, and traditional jewelry.
