Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The district administration and Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) have uncovered multiple violations including illegal tenants, encroachments and even outright sales of flats during an ongoing survey of houses allotted under the 'Housing for All' scheme in the capital city.

According to district officials, the survey—currently underway in Dakshin-Paschim Assembly constituency—has revealed that at least 10 beneficiaries have illegally sold their government-allotted flats, while 23 units are occupied by tenants. One flat has also been found under illegal encroachment.

So far, officials have surveyed 424 houses, including 300 flats in TT Nagar alone. The survey began on Monday in A Block of Ambedkar Nagar and is scheduled to continue for the next 25 days, until the end of May.

Surprisingly, these violations have come to light within just the first three days of the survey and in only one of the seven apartment buildings in TT Nagar. Authorities are also probing how those 10 flats were sold with proper registry despite rules clearly prohibiting such transfers.

Officials said the final report of the survey will likely uncover more such irregularities and will form the basis for further action to ensure that the benefits of housing scheme reach only rightful recipients.

SDM assures strict action

TT Nagar SDM Archna Rawat Sharma told Free Press that the purpose of the survey is to verify whether original beneficiaries are actually residing in their allotted flats.“If tenants, relatives, or any unauthorised occupants are found, the allotment will be cancelled,” she said.

She said that strict action will be taken against all those involved in violations, including brokers who facilitated the illegal sales.
