Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): After Rasgulla and pan masala theft, another bizarre case has been reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. A thief stole five sacks of salt from outside a grocery shop here on Thursday. The whole incident was recorded in CCTV installed in the area, which is now circulating widely on social media.

The incident occurred in Jabalpur's Devtal area early Thursday morning.

Check out the video below :

According to information, the entire incident took place around 4:45 AM.

The shop owner, Jaipal Singh Prajapati, filed a complaint at Gohalpur police station, stating that the thief arrived on a scooter, loaded the salt sacks one by one, and fled the scene without any panic.

The stolen sacks are worth around ₹1,000.

The 55-second CCTV video shows how the thief carried out the act in a well-planned manner. Police are checking the footage and have started efforts to identify and catch the accused.

This incident has left locals shocked, as salt – a basic and low-cost item – is rarely targeted in thefts. Many say it reflects the growing desperation and unusual nature of recent crimes.

Just days earlier, a similar case in Sehore district involving the theft of rasgullas and Rajshree pouches of Rs165 had made headlines, leading to a formal FIR and a notice from the police superintendent.

Police hope to make an arrest soon in the salt theft case.
