Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): The beneficiaries who have died are getting free rations from fair price shops in the district, sources in the civil supplies department said.
Even those who have left the district and reside in other places are also getting free rations. A few women beneficiaries, who have been married, are also collecting free rations. Such a situation has occurred, for their names have not been deleted from the portals of the civil supplies department.
Finding such people has become a challenge for the officials of the food and civil supplies department. The fair price shop owners are facing many difficulties in preparing the E-KYC papers of these beneficiaries, sources further said.
E-KYC (know your customer) of the consumers is being done at the fair price shops. They are updating the entire ID of the beneficiaries. But many people are avoiding the process of getting the e-KYC done.
May 15 is the last day for getting the e-KYC done. There are more than 1.30 lakh people who have yet to complete e-KYC. Such people may not get rations. Over 10.21 lakh people are getting rations from fair price shops. But only over 8.90 lakh people have done e-KYC.
Collector K Balaguru has directed the sub-divisional officers and ration shop owners to complete the KYC of beneficiaries within the time limit. Sub-divisional magistrate Tanmay Verma has imposed a ban of Rs 30,000 on 15 ration shops.
Assistant civil supplies officer Akash Chandel said the officials were doing the e-KYC of beneficiaries. The directors of the public distribution system shops are working on preparing e-KYC, Chandel said. Some people have left the city, and the names of a few people have not been deleted, he said. This is the reason why officials are facing problems, he said.
